The opening seqence creates mystery and suspence, the graphics used are very simple but also creative, it gives a feel like somthing is being manafactured, it music creates gives it a eery feeling which makes it even more intersting to watch as you want to know what happens next. This makes it a very sucessfull opening as it leaves the audince thinking but does not give too much infomation away, it makes you feel like you want to know what is beeing made and why it is so significant to the film. Towards the ending of the opening sequnce, a establishing shot of a old house is taken it makes the audience think that the inventor may live here and want to know what he is made and why there is such a big signifcance of the meachines being shown threw the opening sequnce. The music, grahics and editing refelects a clear genre to the audeince creating mystery, making the audeince want to watch on eargerly.

I particularly like the starting graphics, it instantly creates mystery and engages the audience into watching the film, the ocean bubble effect creates enigma towards the audeince along with the sound effect draws in the audince compleatly into a unknown world. The conventions of a openign sequence are all covered in this as the graphics are mad approrpiate, the title comes after the production companies clearly showing this is an openign sequence. It also make the audience think what is to come. The genre and themes are clearly represented, the target audience is also clearly stated as theres are grahics that come up that tak about law, so this film is not really targetd towards younger children more of a teenage or young adult. This is what makes it very sucessfull as the audince clearly almost know what to expect of the genre of scifi. i like the fact that the opening sequence makes the audeince think about what i to come next, this is a very important convention of a opening sequnce. We are also intoduced to the main chacter which is one thingn i like as it makes me want to watch the film and know why he was dreaming such a dream and how it links with the story.
