First Draft Of Opening Sequence & Production Log 8

This is the draft version of our opening sequence we put this together as we wanted to see how our ideas worked together and how they looked on camera and edited in sequence. Rianne and i were given some feedback back from our audience who watched this and evaluated it to see if it met the conventions of a British Social Realism film. We benefited from creating a draft as we are now able to create a opening sequence with a review from our target audience, also we are able re film are tailor the opening sequence to the audience preferences  However there is a piece of clip missing before the opening title that we were not able to film for the due day of the draft because of our actors not being available at certain times however we plan to include the missing part in the final of our opening sequence. The sound will also be cut out and our sound track will be played over the opening sequence.

Here is the feedback which we received.

Criteria
comments
Filming: strengths and weaknesses
-framing
-range of shots
-movements
-creating meaning
The different shot types work well with the type of movement of the camera. There is variety of a range of shots which make it interesting to watch however some of the shots do not create enough meaning and have to be taken out. Care has to be taken that every shot has to create meaning.
Suggestions for improvement
More close ups are needed; we need to make sure every shot creates meaning. Also the kitchen sink scene has to be taken out also, take out violence where the husband pushes the wife out the way as it looks unrealistic.
Editing: strengths and weaknesses
-pace
-transitions/ effects
-graphics
The pace of editing is very good and is very smooth despite this being a draft the effects are very good. The graphics clearly denote the themes of the film.
Suggestions for improvement
We need to do a focus pull on the folders to direct attention to the fact work is building up and he cannot handle the pressures of life and his work pressures are causing him to cheat on his wife.
Creativity and Conventions
The idea of this opening sequence is very creative however we must shoot the main part of the opening sequence correctly for the audience to understand the themes and idea of our opening sequence.
Suggestions for improvement
We have to make sure that the costumes remain consistent and the lighting needs to the stay the same also there is too much going on in terms for an opening sequence so we have to simplify our work. The husband needs to come into the house and take the drink and walk upstairs without acknowledging  his wife as he troubles her everyday so she would not welcome him home. The dishes scene will be taken out but just take the plate and shove all the food in the bin and have close up of her emotions .
