Production Log 5

What have been your key issues for your pre-production this week?

This week Rianne and I focused on perfecting the narrative for the opening sequence and working out the shot order, as it is an opening sequence we must not reveal the whole movie story line. We made sure we kept to all the conventions of a British Social Realism opening sequence. We also made use we are using a variety of shots to keep the audience engaged and also we are keeping the opening sequence very mysterious so the audience keep on asking questions to why this is happening. We also made sure we had actors who were appropriated type-caste and  also will be reliable and have good acting skills to create as much verisimilitude as possible. It is crucial that the actors also meet the conventions of a British Social Realism film as they are usually inexperienced and un- known so we have kept to this convention. We also discussed the soundtrack which would be playing in the background of our opening sequence as it had to be original and copyright free.

What decisions did you make and why?

We decided that we will make the story line very dark in order to create enigma and also we were told in the focus group that they prefer a shock mouth opening sequence to ones that were slower, they thought it grabbed their attention more so we took that into account to please our focus group audience a they are representative of our whole target audience. We have decided to use close ups, mid shots and perhaps one long shot, we have not used any establishing shots as we do not have the money or resources as film makers  We have confirmed the actors who shall be acting in our production although  it was difficult to find a mature actor who could commit to help us in our work we have found someone. Rianne and I have also have had ideas to what our sound track would be, we have asked permission from an independent music producer if we can use one of the tracks he has composed in our work.

Here is the evidence of permission  and the sound track.
